| Buglisi Dance Theatre continues to develop annual educational
residencies and workshops across the country with various institutions,
among them the Chautauqua Institute, STEPS on Broadway, Kaatsbaan International
Dance Center, Interlochen Arts Festival, Florida State University,
Alabama School of Fine Arts, Ballet Divertimento, Montreal; Atlantic
Center for the Arts, Yale University, Boston Conservatory of Music,
Marymount Manhattan College, SUNY Purchase, the Collegiate School,
Frank Sinatra High School of the Arts, LaGuardia High School of the
Performing Arts, Hospital Audiences, and the Juilliard School. |

Master Classes
In contemporary Graham-based technique conceived to teach young students
that dance is a language – a vocabulary to communicate to an audience
by physical means the issues and emotions of our time. One and one-half
hour classes available for all levels. Live musical accompaniment. |

Repertory Workshop
A warm up followed by a one and one-half hour of repertory to be chosen
by the Company.
Advanced students only. |

Open Rehearsal
Offering insight into the creative process and the onstage experience.
Question and answer session with the artists. |

Lecture/Demonstration
Including all elements of the residency:
Advanced students demonstrating elements of technique classes.
Student performance of the repertory workshop's choreography.
Excerpts from the repertoire of the Threshold Dance Projects to be performed. |
Techniques of Performance
Exclusive master class series designed by Buglisi and Foreman for advanced
dance students preparing for the stage. Live musical accompaniment. |

Lecture Series
Available to the public to serve as community outreach and to develop cultural
awareness. The lecture series would consist of lectures on the following
subjects by Buglisi and Foreman with a panel discussion with principal

The process of reconstruction and revival of great solo works of contemporary
dance. Dancer as interpretive artist. Discussion based on Solo Repertory
class developed by Foreman for Barnard College/Columbia University. |

Dance as the Language of Culture.©
Literary, psychological and artistic sources at the foundation of great
contemporary dance works. Includes discussion of Company repertory inspired
by great visual artists (Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe) and other
heroic figures throughout the ages. |

The Apprentice and the Master.©
The process of discovering our own images to bring a unique expression
to the dance. Based on Foreman's book Out of Martha's House, a
collection of writings about his 20 years as principal dancer in Martha
Graham's works. |

Educational Outreach
Designed to offer the kinetic experience as an approach to learning. Movement
explorations designed for all ages using dance as a means of expression.
Topics range from painting and literature, to cultural studies, to mathmatics
and science. Taught by members of the Company. |

| Technical requirements for the listed activities:
Clean well lit studio suitable for bare feet and floor work.
A musician for the accompaniment of all technique classes during the
residency.
Lectures require a space convenient and comfortable for their presentation.
An overhead projector and playback video equipment with a large viewing
screen are necessary for presentation of visual materials.
Translator services necessary where required, for all classes and lectures. |
